Short comparison of different models of 1000 and 1100 Africa Twins:
2016 DCT tri colour 5,000 kms
2016 DCT Black colour 22,000 kms
2023 Manual ATAS with Quickshifter 17,500 kms
2023 DCT ATAS Electronic Suspension 10,000 kms
1. Once you go DCT , you always stay DCT
2. Electronic Suspension is amazing, well DCT + ES is Honda's best innovation
3. Forget about the Myth of 1100 having too much Electronics, ive owned both and I would recommend 1100 over 1000 anytime
4. Ive ridden in all sorts of terrains from tarmac, sand, gravel, rocks and very little mud
5. My first off road ever was a solo 2 day trip of 400 kms gravel + sand and managed to drop the bike 3 times only. DCT made me a pro by just focusing on throttle, braking and balance
6. All bikes were ridden where they belong, Africa! Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Africa, Namibia and Zambia
7. Worst thing about the 1100 ATAS is the cheesecake tubeless rims that need a recall and re-design of Honda's soft Aluminum and slight bend at the spoke entry points.
8. Too many buttons on the 1100 with no back-lit is a downside!
9. Imagine 31 km/l on the 1100 Manual ATAS riding highway for 1,000 kms with speeds under 110 km/h 👌
10. Pros of the 1100 over 1000 are power, smooth engine, Electronic suspension and height
