2018 will be Harley–Davidson’s 115th year, so it is launching eight all-new Softail models.
There have been a lot of rumors in recent times about slowing up in Harley-Davidson’s sales, but in fact the American motorcycle manufacturer hasn’t shown any sign of its drop. The company decided to prove its strong positions on the market by revealing eight new 2018 Softail models this week.
Its officially announced 115th Anniversary machines will fold Dyna and Softail model lines into one all-new 2018 Harley-Davidson Softail range of motorcycles, which includes the Fat Boy, Heritage Classic, Low Rider, Softail Slim, Deluxe, Breakout, Fat Bob and Street Bob.
The entire new 2018 Harley-Davidson Softail lineup gets an all-new chassis, new underseat "hidden" single shock, and the new Milwaukee-Eight V-twin engine in 107ci displacement or, in select models, 114ci, which now has dual counterbalancers and outputs 1745cc and 1868cc in ‘114’ version of the engine. The new Milwaukee-Eight engine offers quicker throttle response, more passing power, purer sound, a smoother ride and more of the feeling riders want from a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle engine.
All 2018 Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycles use an all-new frame that, as part of the larger redesign, reduces weight and improves handling and ride quality.
Thanks to an easily adjustable hidden rear mono-shock and high-performance dual-bending valve front suspension, the 2018 models are lighter, faster and better handling than any of their Big Twin predecessors.
According to Harley-Davidson’s manager of product profile Paul James “The Softail models are the result of the most extensive research and development program in the company’s history.”
The rollout is the result of thousands of hours of research and testing. “We are focused on taking the total rider experience to a new level”, according to Paul.
