This kind of the title is rather to attract your attention. At the end of August, we’ve found out that the Tuscany Motor company prepared special 115th Anniversary Custom Harley-Davidson pickups based on the Ford F-150 in honor of the 115th anniversary of the H-D brand. Also we’ve managed to figure out, that Ford and Harley-Davidson have had more than one year of partnership, and special versions of pickups dedicated to the American motorcycle manufacturer have already been produced in different years.
American multinational automaker Ford Motor Company was founded in 1903 - the same year is considered to be the starting point of the existence of the Harley-Davidson. Shortly before the next anniversary, both native American manufacturers decided to join forces to show the world the first special series of Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson in 1999. The very first H-D pickup was a rear-drive F-150 SuperCab truck with a 260-horsepower, 5.4-liter V-8 engine. The automaker borrowed the exhaust system and shocks from the SVT Lightning. F-150 Harley-Davidson was the first Ford’s pickup truck to receive 20-inch wheels. Also ebony black leather seats were complemented by a spun-metal look, and the truck was equipped with a CD changer and sliding rear window. It was just the beginning…
Each generation of Ford F-Series pickups received a special Harley-Davidson version. Over time, machines with SuperCrew double cabin, turbo-motors, a six-speed "automatic" gearbox and other technical details began to appear in the "arsenal" of the manufacturer. But such pickups were chosen, first of all, for their appearance. H-D special versions differed from their standard models not only with enlarged wheels, but also with radically different paint finish: as a rule, contrasting strips of bright colors, badges with the Harley-Davidson logo or even flames appeared on the sides of the truck.
And what about the interior? Here are the two-tone leather trim and the huge manufacturer logos and, of course, an essential attribute of all Harley-Davidson special versions – an impressive nameplate, mounted on the armrest of the front row of seats, which combines the Harley-Davidson logo and the VIN code plate of a particular Ford F-Series. It is important to remember that each copy of the pickup had a serial number, since cars were produced in a limited series.
The history of the Ford F-Series Harley-Davidson was over in 2012. Already in 2008, the special version turned into a Platinum package of options for completing, and later the Limited factory version was introduced. This Limited version put an end to the popularity of Harley version pickups, and it was decided to stop the production of the F-150 truck. Of course, the story of the F-Series Harley-Davidson pickup trucks can be continued indefinitely, detailing the versions and package of each year. It also can be mentioned that in addition to the F-150, the Ford F-250, Ford F-350 and Ford F-450 pickups with Harley-Davidson logos were produced, but it was a one-time experience. I invite you to admire the old photos of these real American cars with the Harley-Davidson mark.
