At the Motorcycle Live exhibition, which is currently taking place in Birmingham, England, Norton has introduced another new model - the mid-sport 650 Superlight. The motor is derived from their larger V4 RR, that’s used in the Atlas models. But here it is reconfigured for the track needs.
Specs:
- 650cc parallel twin, 270 degree firing order
- compression ratio: 13.4:1
- power: 105bhp at 12,500 rpm
- torque: 75Nm
- diagonal frame, the engine acts as a structural member
- single sided aluminium swingarm
- wheelbase: 1399mm
- dry weight: 158kg
- carbon fibre 17” BST
- Ohlins fork and steering damper
- Ohlins rear mono-shock
- Seat height: 824mm
- front brakes: 2 X 330mm full floating Brembo discs with Brembo M50 monoblock calipers
- rare brakes: single 245mm Brembo disc
- ABS
- full carbon fibre bodywork
- 18L fuel tank is all carbon fibre with Kevlar reinforcement
- full LED lightning system
- full color 7” HD display
- engine modes: Road, Sport, Pro-race
- Quick shift
- Traction Control, Launch Control, using a built-in six axis IMU
- keyless ignition system
- optional full titanium race exhaust system (not for road use)
The price of the novelty is £ 19,950 ($ 25,600). First of all, Norton wants it to be competing in the Lightweight class at the TT, that’s been dominated by Kawasaki and Paton riders.
