Auctioners estimated the Crocker Big Tank 1939 motorcycle at $ 500,000, but a rare bike went for $ 704,000at the 28th Annual motorcycle auction in Las Vegas. Included with the bike was an issue of the 1959 French Moto Revue Classic magazine that featured the motorcycle, plus various associated photographs and documentation.

The Crocker Big Tank was produced in limited numbers,so today it is rated very high.

The company was founded by Albert Crocker, an Indian dealer in Denver. In 1932 Crocker had moved to Los Angelesand started out sellingkits for dirt-track Indians. A year later they released their first 500cc speedway motorcycle, just 31 units were sold.

In 1935, Crocker introducedn OHV V-twin motor with a three-speed transmissionas a significant part of the frame. A year later, Crocker began selling its V-twin motorcycles. The purchaser selected a displacement (ranging from 62ci to 100ci). According to the manufacturer,its 62ci motor put out as much as 60 hp and was capable of speeds over 180 km/h, surpassing the Harley-Davidson Knucklehead.

In 1936 - 1942, the manufacturer built 72 V-twins motorcycles, which were constantly developed and improved.The first versions were completed with a 9.5-liter tank,with the Big Tank versions appearing in 1938.
