The company has patented technology that is actively used in the automotive industry, in particular to improve the parameters of efficiency and environmental friendliness.

Soon we will see an advanced Africa with a bigger engine with a displacement of 1,084 cc (instead of 998cc), as well as probably the younger mid-size model, defying the KTM 790 Adventure and BMW F850GS.But promising upgrades could be much larger than we expected - the company has patented a system of direct injection for the "African" engine and a new double overhead cam cylinder head instead of the current single overhead camshaft.

This type of engine power came from pre-war aviation and has long been used in the automotive industry, but it is quite hard to adapt it to motorcycles with high-speed engines. The advantage of direct injection over conventional port or throttle body fuel injection is that it separates the functions of drawing air into the engine via the inlet valve and the injection of fuel. Plus you can flexibly change the composition of the fuel-air mixture depending on the engine mode and prevent unburnt fuel escaping into the exhaust.

According to the patent images,a high-pressure, mechanical fuel pumpis mounted on top of the cylinder head (numbered 42 in the patent pictures) and driven by the exhaust camshaft.High-pressure fuel then runs to a fuel rail (45).

In the 2020 model range, it’s quite possible we won’t see this radical innovation - the engine seen in this patent will be adopted at the next update, presumably for the 2022 model year.
