Most major motorcycle manufacturers are actively developing their electric programs. Some already produce electric motorcycles and continue to gradually develop the lineup, while others remain aloof, but do not turn a blind eye to the probable future of the motor industry.
Last summer, BMW introduced the BMW Vision DC Roadster concept, after which little was heard about the electric program of the Bavarians. Six months later, the E-Power Roadster appeared. The manufacturer invited some European journalists to watch and test the development.
The electric bike is a prototype. The front end seems to be from the BMW S1000R and the back from the R1200RS. To a greater extent, the prototype was created to test the power plant, and everything else does not matter.
The electric bike is capable of accelerating to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, despite its weight of 640 lbs. The BMW E-Power Roadster is capable of restoring up to 3 mph of power reserve every minute, that is, it takes 30 minutes to recharge by 90 percent.
The electric drive was developed based on developments in the automotive industry. BMW is often done like this. The motorbike is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 13 kW * h. It is enough for 125- 186 mph depending on driving style and conditions. The engine produces 136 hp. and 200 Nm.
Production is still a long way off. The development process has already been launched, and this is probably good news.
