Almost all of the German manufacturer's motorcycle models are impacted.
It's not the best time for prospective BMW motorcycle buyers in North America. Just a few days ahead of the debut of the next-generation R1300GS, BMW, the German motorcycle maker, has issued a 'stop sale' directive for all new and pre-owned gasoline-powered bikes present in dealer inventories. Currently, the only exempt model in the United States and Canada is the CE 04, which is BMW's electric scooter.
According to BMW's official statement, the sales halt is unrelated to safety concerns but stems from an issue with the materials used in their motorcycles' evaporative system (EVAP). The EVAP system's purpose is to capture fuel vapors and recycle them back into the engine intake, thereby preventing their release into the environment.
