Kawasaki global sales in 2020 are penalized by the sharp industry decline in the ASEAN region and are falling down at half-million units, back at the 2014 level. In the previous three years, the Japanese manufacturer had scored three all time records in a row.
Kawasaki heritage
Kawasaki Motorcycles is a division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, a firm born in 1878 in a shipyard. Since they merged with Meguro in 1963 the firm started building high-performance motorcycles and nowadays they are active in the aerospace, industrial equipment, automotive (rail, air, marine sectors), shipment and energy industry as well.
The motorbikes made by Kawasaki are well known all over the World for their green-colored sports bikes, they are now an iconic brand with a long-lasting tradition of exceptional bikes.
They have production facilities in Japan, the USA, the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Thailand.
Kawasaki Global Sales Performance
Global sales have been stable in the period 2010-2015 in the range between 450 and 500 thousand units before accelerating in the last three years.
In the period 2015-2019, the brand hit four consecutive growth, with the last three hitting three all-time record in a row
In 2019 sales ended with 643.551 registrations, the record and an impressive score.
The top region is the ASEAN, where Kawasaki is producing (Thailand and Philippines) and selling a hundred thousand motorcycles, even in partnership with Bajaj Auto.
In 2020, Kawasaki is losing 36% of ASEAN sales hitting the global figures and at the end of November, sales have been just over 450.000 (-24.3%) with the year ending with volume back at the 2014 level.
