Arjan van den Boom of Ironwood Motorcycles fame has long been one of our absolute favorite custom builders, so when word recently broke that Arj had partnered with fellow Dutch builder Timothy Somers of Powerbrick Performance to launch a new bike building brand, we instantly sat up and took notice. Known as CNCPT Moto, this new label has decided to kick things off with an ultra-idiosyncratic BMW R nineT build known as “Cloud 9.”
Designed to look like the builders’ idea of a custom bike from the 2080s, the R9T sports an incredibly unique appearance that’s primarily owed to its two-piece bodywork setup — a front fairing and tank item that feed into a tail-section and side cover arrangement, both of which were custom 3D-printed in ASA thermoplastic. In between the two pieces of bodywork is also a grilled, one-off airbox housing DNA filters, while out front the BMW features a custom LED headlight set behind a custom lens that was 3D-printed from a polymer resin.
CNCPT has also treated the R9T donor to a one-off fuel cell, a custom saddle trimmed in leather and Alcantara, custom-machined valve and engine covers, one-off partially-blacked-out cylinder head covers, upgraded Matris internals and carbon fiber fork uppers courtesy of CeraCarbon, a TFX monoshock, ultra-skinny ten-arm carbon fiber Rotobox wheels shod in Pirelli Diablo Superbike slicks, a bespoke aluminum belly-pan, a custom stainless steel exhaust system culminating in under-tail pipes with honeycombed covers, Motogadget instrumentation, top-shelf Beringer brakes, and a slew of purple-anodized items that contrast the custom silver livery that was laid down by Royal Kustom Works.
More than just an impressive design exercise, CNCPT Moto’s BMW R nineT-based “Cloud 9” project is currently for sale. Interested parties can contact Arjan via his website or on his social media channels.
