Based in Rotterdam, Powerbrick Performance is a Dutch outfit that specializes in producing high-end aftermarket parts for vintage R and K Series BMW motorcycles. In addition to churning out aftermarket components, the boutique shop also crafts one-off builds that demonstrate the enormous potential its parts afford custom projects — the latest of which is an ultra-tidy Flying Brick cafe racer.
Christened “Vigilance,” the bike began life as a 1994 BMW K1100RS, though the now completed two-wheeler is a far cry from its former self, with every inch of the custom motorcycle having been meticulously pored over. Sporting a low and aggressive stance, the build has received a swingarm that’s been stretched by 0.6” before being paired with a five-way hydraulically-adjustable YSS G-Racing mono-shock which is mated to a bespoke linkage — a modification that also required the fabrication of a bespoke subframe. The donor’s stock front end has also been jettisoned in favor of a custom inverted fork that’s been plucked from a BMW S1000RR superbike and slotted in custom triples. The project also rides on a set of two-piece custom BBS alloy rims, and thanks to a single-sided swingarm, the rear item is on full display.
Now equipped with a custom bank of DNA pod filters and a bespoke four-into-one stainless steel exhaust, the 1,092cc inline-four engine at the heart of the cafe-style Beemer has also been tuned to make 26% more horsepower, now putting down 130 horses at the rear wheel. Unsurprisingly, Vigilance is also loaded with parts from Powerbrick’s in-house catalog, including the shop’s second-generation K Series rear sets and a tank cap and bespoke Roundels that have been custom-machined from aluminum billet. Other noteworthy additions to the BMW include an RC Racing aluminum radiator, a fully-rewired, Bluetooth-connected engine management system, an ultra-waspish tail cowl, Bosch EV14 injectors, Venhill lines, a KOSO Thunderbolt LED headlight set beneath a one-off cowl, a Motogadget Motoscope Mini display housed in a bespoke top yoke, bar-end LED indicators, and top-shelf Brembo HPK GP4-RS calipers, masters, and levers.
Powerbrick Performance’s 1994 BMW K1100RS-based “Vigilance” build is currently for sale with an asking price of €40,000 (~$41,625). The sale also includes a CTEK Charger and a set of road-legal Pirelli tires. Interested parties can contact the shop via its website.
