Yamaha has taken the wraps off the 2023 R7 and R3. Both motorcycles gain a new color each which should help lure more customers. Sadly, like each year, the model-year update also comes with a small price hike.

For 2023, the R7 gains a new Intensity White color option. As the name suggests, the new color wraps the motorcycle in bright white bodywork from head to toe. While the livery is rather subtle, Yamaha has thrown in grey ‘R7’ graphics on the fairings and red alloy wheels to make it more flavorful.

Apart from the new livery, there are no notable changes for 2023. The R7 continues to employ an MT-07-derived 689cc, parallel-twin engine pumping out 72.4 horsepower. Meanwhile, it also carries forward the same suspension setup (adjustable USD forks and monoshock) along with the same brakes (twin 298mm front discs and single 245mm rear disc).

Unlike the R7, the 2023 R3 comes in a unique livery called Phantom Purple. Comprising a deep purple tone all around, the new color is properly stylish and has red accents everywhere, which makes it the sportiest R3 livery in the recent past—of course, barring the gorgeous 60th-anniversary colorway.

Besides this, the R3 remains unchanged elsewhere and continues to come in its 2022 colors too. While we don’t have any complaints with the retention of the 321cc engine or the suspension, Yamaha could’ve at least thrown in LED indicators to the mix that even the smaller R25 and R15 get in international markets. This point becomes even more applicable considering the price hike for the MY23.

Speaking of price hikes, the 2023 Yamaha R7 and R3 cost $9,199 and $5,499 - $200 more than their 2022 models - regardless of the color you pick. Considering there aren’t any notable changes, we feel this is a bit steep, especially for the R3, which belongs to a more price-sensitive segment. Nevertheless, there’s no denying that the two colors are a welcome addition and will surely turn heads.
