Ihungia Ride 30-08-20
On Sunday we went for a ride up the back roads through Waimata Valley, fernside, Mata and Ihungia and came back out on the main drag just above TePuia. I was joined by Malcolm from Matawai, Joe from Rotorua, Russell from Matawai, Karl from Gizzy, and Rossco from Ormond. Was a good day for riding and a real mix of differing road surface conditions, there were some sketchy moments but everyone stayed the right way up, and today's only casualty was a finch that tried his luck at riding through Malcolm's front wheel, he failed. With no cloud we had stunning views. And when we got onto the highway, the wanderers checked their GPS and realised they had same K's to ride home if they turned left or right, so they took the coast road home, which was a great idea, as Cafe35 was closed anyway, so no Paua Pies. So we were now down to 3, and after a quick stop at Toko we were off again, then Rossco left us at Tolaga, as I wanted to Drone the Tolaga Wharf. Now we were 2, then it was off back home after a short rest at the wharf and we rocked back into town just before dark, another great day if riding completed, and it is always enjoyable having people come from sofar away to join us on our outings, thanks everyone for making it a memorable day.
