This is a 1971 Triumph Daytona T100R that I bought new in April of 1971 in London.
It took me on a tour of Europe that summer and fall from England to Istanbul, and back to Northern Germany, where I put it on a ship back to the states. A few weeks later, I picked it up in New Jersey, and rode it back to Omaha, Nebraska. I put it away some time in the late 70s with clutch problems. It had maybe 20,000 miles on it at the time, and hasn't been started since. In the time I rode it, I had it apart once for frame, tank and fender paint, and I did the top end of the engine at least once. Bottom end has never been apart.

Getting the engine up on the work table:
Everything had been pretty easy to this point. I never could turn the engine, and was afraid to force it. The cylinders are rusted, and the pistons are stuck. There was a lot of water under the oil--accumulated condensation, I guess.
It took several weeks of soaking the cylinders with PB Blaster, occasional heat and coercion with a sledge (through wood blocks, of course) to free the pistons. Inside the case was a lot of gritty sludge.
