Lowered light and instruments
I never thought the GB500 looked just quite right from the front... All the right elements were there but they just didn't seem to come together properly. The headlight is maybe a bit too big and sits a bit too high. And there's that plastic chrome cover that sits right below it... uncharacteristic on a machine built with beautifully polished bespoke components.
When I first acquired the bike I thought it would improve the look to lower the headlight and instruments, and flip the clip-on bars from above the triple clamp to below it.
Tonight I figured out a way to make it (almost) all work. I flipped the bracket that holds the instruments to the triple, lowered the headlight holder and tapped a couple of threads and added some spacers to make the fusebox fit.
I also attempted to invert the clip-ons but I couldn't get them to sit in a way that didn't interfere with the tank.
The net effect is that the headlight and instruments come down about an inch and a half. Also, the plastic chrome cover is gone, along with some brackets and cable guides that went with it.
before... headlight too high and nerdy cover below
after. Much sportier looking IMO
