Romano Fenati has seen his penalty reduced and if he wants, he can return to the competition on February 21st of next year. From eight months, the withdrawal of the sporting license by the Italian Federation will be valid for a period of five months and ten days, by decision of the Federal Court in Italy.

Before the start of the trial, Fenati and his defense asked to intervene, with the rider apologizing for the incident and pleading as guilty.

Quoted by the GPOne website, Federal Attorney Antonio De Girolami explained the decision to reduce Fenati’s penalty: ‘We don’t want to crucify Fenati, but we don’t want to pretend that nothing happened. He apologized and there are some who don’t. There is agreement on the request of the Fenati defense to apply a final sanction of five months and ten days that can be reached from eight months of basic punishment with the decrease of one third by the procedural behavior of admission, which is five months and 10 days from the notification of the preventive suspension’.
