The first MotoGP tests started at the KymiRing track. Each of the six manufacturers sent one representative to test the track and give their first impressions of Finland's KymiRing circuit.

Stefan Bradl represents Honda, Jonas Folger – Yamaha, Sylvain Guintoli – Suzuki, Mika Kallio – KTM, & MichelePirro – Ducati, Bradley Smith – Aprilia. Why Kallio and not Dani Pedrosa? KTM decided to let Mika be the first one to test the home track.

These tests also collected preliminary information for the tire manufacturer Michelin. The French company has the ability to gauge the abrasiveness of the surface on different tracks, but only real tests can give an actual picture.

Weather conditions were unfavorable. The rain started in the afternoon, and during the day the track was both wet and dirty.Riders used rain tires during the whole day. Stefan Bradl was caught out by the conditions and became the first rider to crash at the KymiRing, when he touched a white line while braking for the penultimate 17 corner early in the session.

Due to such weather conditions, lap times were around 2:10 - 2:12.Typically, rain tire speed is 10% higher, so we can assume that in dry conditions the lap times will be around 1:55- 1:58.

Israeli journalist Tammy Gorali attended the tests and took some photos.
