All-new Yamaha R25 4-cylinder bike is likely to be named YZF-R25M. This comes after Kawasaki launched its Ninja ZX-25R in Indonesia a couple of weeks ago.
When Kawasaki came up with its latest product, we reported that soon other manufacturers will also follow suit since it has effectively opened a new segment.
It seems that Yamaha is the first rival to come at Kawasaki with a product in the category, although one other manufacturer is also working on such a product.
As far as we know, the Yamaha R25 4-cylinder bike is likely to be named YZF-R25M. Those who follow Yamaha’s nomenclature know that the M variant will be the top of the line, like the R1M.
This means the YZF-R25M will be more track-oriented, meaning Yamaha will pull out all the stops to beat Kawasaki at its own game. So expect top hardware on the 250cc bike.
For reference, the Kawasaki ZX-25R has a 249.8cc, inline 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 51 PS at 15,500 RPM and 22.9 Nm of torque at 14,500 RPM.
The speculations have currently come from dealers in Indonesia and no detail or comment has been given by Yamaha itself.
Another rival, Honda is also said to be developing the latest generation CBR250 4-cylinder engine. The bike will follow the naming template of the CBR1000RR-R and thus be called the CBR250RR-R.
