Let’s get one thing straight. If you’re willing to push a motorcycle home in the middle of a German winter because it’s so beat up it won’t start then clearly you have big plans up your sleeve. In the case of this 1990 GB500, big plans were indeed on the docket compliments of 271 Design’s Oliver Aschenbrenner who successfully transformed this found bike into a gorgeous cafe racer.

As a former designer for Triumph, Oliver was then able to piece together exactly how he wanted his new ride to look. And in this case – obviously for the better – he positioned the GB500 tank as the bike’s focal point. From here, he was able to hide the electrical system and the bike’s new Motogadget m.unit control box. The frame was also stripped down to the bones and powder coated for good measure, and he went ahead and rebuilt or repaired the engine with Honda OEM parts – save the cylinder head and the transmission. He also removed the electric starter in favor of a kick start – effectively bringing the bike back in time a bit. No problems here.
