Norton Motorcycles has revealed its V4SV superbike and with it, the company claims, it has raised the bar higher than ever. The British motorcycle company, that was acquired by TVS last year, has revealed its latest flagship offering and this motorcycle takes the place of the V4SS.
- Power and torque figures have gone down
- Features carbon fibre bodywork
- Fully adjustable Ohlins suspension
Norton has said it has “combined their extensive racing experience with everything they know a rider demands from a road bike. With the V4SV, they’ve raised the bar higher than ever before.”
Powering this bike is a 1,200cc V4 engine that makes a claimed 187.5hp and 125Nm, which is slightly lower than the claimed numbers (200hp/130Nm) the V4SS was capable of. While those numbers might not sound as high as what other superbikes make, the Norton is built for those looking for a high-end track-ready British motorcycle.
This becomes clear when you look at the spec sheet. Not only is the bodywork on the V4SV made out of carbon fibre, but so is the fuel tank. If you go for the ‘Carbon’ model, the bike will also come equipped with wheels made out of the expensive lightweight material. The bike has an aluminium tube frame that has been polished to get a mirror finish, in typical Norton fashion. This frame is paired to a braced and underslung single-sided billet swingarm with rising rate linkage geometry developed from the TT race bikes.
Other premium components seen on the V4SV are the billet-machined foot pegs and yokes. As for the suspension, the bike uses a fully adjustable Ohlins NIX30 fork and Ohlins TTXGP monoshock. Like the motorcycle it replaces, the V4SV is also kitted out with electronics like a 6-inch full colour display.
Expect this high-end motorcycle to have an eye-watering price tag, as the V4SS itself was priced at £44,000.
