Two weeks after the reveal of the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R took place, the spotlight has been stolen by the new 890 Duke GP, a middleweight naked bike that is both light and more agile than the bike it is based on.
The Austrian firm has given the bike a new GP-derived lightweight chassis, ‘R’ style orange wheels, stainless steel exhaust system, cast aluminium subframe housing the airbox and a wide radiator.
The middleweight street racer’s livery too is GP-derived and boasts of the very recognisable KTM orange shade with black graphics. It also has a new pillion passenger seat cover.
What’s more, the 890 Duke GP has full LED lights, adjustable hand levers, a steering damper, a TFT dash and 4 ride modes (Rain, Street, Sport and the optional Track setting).
For safety, the middleweight machine comes with cornering ABS with Supermoto mode, cornering traction control (switchable), anti-wheelie, and stability control. Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) is optional.
Power comes from the well-known 889cc LC8c parallel-twin petrol engine making 114 BHP and 92 Nm of torque. The engine is teamed to a 6-speed manual transmission with a PASC anti-hopping clutch. A quickshifter can be fitted as an optional extra.
KTM has not given the bike too much power as it only weighs 169 kg (dry). It also comes fitted with WP Apex suspension (140 mm travel up front and 150 mm travel in the back) and solid brakes.
During the 890 Duke GP reveal, KTM also announced that the bike will be available at its authorised dealerships overseas from next month onward.
