Engineers and students of the Moscow Polytechnic University have created a MIG R2 electric motorcycle, which will take part in the Baikal Mile festival of speed on ice in extreme conditions. It is assumed that the new bike will be able to break the record of 2020, when the MIG R electric motorcycle managed to accelerate on the ice of Lake Baikal to 210.6 km/h.
According to the developers, the new model has become much lighter and more maneuverable than the original. In addition, the shortcomings associated with the battery and electronics, identified during the operation of the MIG R, were eliminated. As for innovations, the bike received a composite body kit made of carbon fiber, due to which it was possible to make the new product much lighter. Some parts, such as battery holders, have been 3D printed. The bike also has a telemetry system that allows you to remotely monitor various indicators, including speed, position, battery voltage, etc. The dimensions of the vehicle, completely designed by students of the Moscow Poly, are 2009 × 720 × 1140 mm.
“Most importantly, in the new model, we took into account the wishes of the pilots in terms of ergonomics, made a more comfortable fit and reduced the wheelbase. Improvements will allow you to drive an electric bike not only on ice, but also on other surfaces. For example, ride on city roads or even get a sports passport on a motorcycle and participate in motorcycle competitions on it. ”– said the head of the laboratory “Smart Moto” Semyon Zemtsev.
“This year we plan to beat our own achievement and set a new speed record on an electric motorcycle on ice, created specifically for the festival, and record the achievement in the Russian Book of Records”— said Pablo Emilio, Dean of the Faculty of Transportation, Head of the Engineering Development Center of the Moscow Polytechnic University Iturralde Bakero.
