Ultraviolet Unleashes the Carbon-Bodied F99 Track-Only Electric Superbike

Founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette Automotive is an envelope-pushing Indian EV outfit that caught the motorcycle world’s attention with the debut of its fully-electric F77 motorcycle — an ultra-sleek, state-of-the-art smart superbike. And after opening preorders for the F77 over the summer, the company has now pulled the cover off of its next project, the Ultraviolet F99 Factory Racing Platform.

Based on the existing F77 model, this factory-backed closed-circuit-only version of the bike has been heavily optimized for the race track. The F77’s already-sleek bodywork has been reconfigured for closed-course use, and is now not only crafted from carbon fiber, but also sports blade-style fork covers and tail cowl-mounted aerofoils. Poking out from the bodywork — where a set of frame sliders might normally be positioned — is a set of aero winglets on either side of the bike. What’s more, the F77’s headlight has also been covered over and carved out in order to act as a front spoiler. The electric motor at the heart of the F99 has been upgraded and is now good for 67hp (50kW), allowing for a top speed of over 125mph — a major bump over the F77’s 40.5hp and the 95-mph top speed that it’s good for.

The F99 also features a more aggressive riding position thanks to a new pair of adjustable rear-sets, clip-on bars, and a thinner, slimmer, foam-covered seat set at a taller height. While it shares its wheel design with the F77, the F99 rides on a set of ultra-soft and ultra-sticky racing slicks constructed from a special compound. Decked out in a meteor grey and plasma red livery, the F99 has been further readied for the track via the addition of race lever-guards and knee grip pads on the tank. Lastly, to compensate for the F99’s increased power and speed, the team at Ultraviolet has bestowed the bike with upgraded braking hardware in the form of Bosch dual-channel ABS-backed four-pot radial-mount calipers up front and a floating single-piston unit in the rear.

At this point, it’s unclear what Ultraviolet’s plans are for the F99 Factory Racing Platform, whether it will be available for purchase, or used in a single-make race series.
