Engine 2

OK - Got the timing cover off with well timed and judicious use of an impact driver and it's pretty fugly in there....What little oil that remains is old and 'burnt' and everything is coated in black slime.  

The inside of the case shows the problem as well.....

From where I'm sitting it does look like this engine hasn't run in a long, long, time. Should I be worried about the black sludge or is it a case of "they all do that sir!"
