Transfăgărăşan on my V-Strom
My wife and I had a free week, which we decided to spend for a short trip around central Romania. Fortunately, it is not far to go there from Varna and the distance between the cities is small, so you can walk for most of the day, and do not rush. I did not set a goal to make a detailed photo report, just want to share the joy of visiting amazingly beautiful places.
This post is dedicated to our attempts to overcome Transfăgărăşan, the famous high-altitude track, built in the early 70's under the Ceausescu regime. The route, intended to transfer forces quickly in case of a Soviet invasion, cost several hundred lives.
We did not pass it through, because the road through the pass had not thawed, so we had to drive up from the north to reach Lake Byla and, leaving a bike, sit on the lift to the lake.
