Honda GL1800-Changing the air filter

It would seem such a simple procedure for changing the air filter that it's not worth writing about. Yes, if we are not talking about Honda GL1800.

To get to the filter, it is necessary to remove all the plastic from the top, sides and a lot of other things. Since I was doing minor maintenance, I started to remove it from the bottom.

I unclamp the drain plug and filter.

New gasket and original filter.

Now let's proceed directly to the removal of the plastic on top. You can start as you like, I first removed the tool cluster on the right, at one time to check the antifreeze level.

I drain it too, for replacement.

Then it is necessary to carefully remove two covers, under them are bolts fixing the plastic itself.

Remove the button blocks.

Then the plastic near the ignition key:

Now you can try to lift the center console, carefully, pay attention to the wiring loops under it and the antenna wire.

Remove the screws near the speakers and remove the rest of the center console

After disconnecting control units and other obstructing access to the filter box.

Here it is. Remove the screws around the perimeter and remove the cover.

The old filter is still okay, I have met variants much sadder. In its place we put a new original.

Close the cover and screw everything together in reverse order. In my case, everything did not go so smoothly, the bike was laid on the right side, and there were unpleasant gaps in the plastic, which can not be eliminated so easily, you need to disassemble everything completely, and align the metal carriers. By the way, you can check the condition of the filter by simply pulling down the side air intake.

The bike had braking problems, as the owner said, "used to grab dead on, but now I'm not sure I'll stop where I plan to".

The brakes were pumped with fresh fluid, and new original pads were installed, which are quite expensive.

The test revealed that the original brakes just fine and even "better than when I bought them". Therefore, my dears, do not need to put in a motorcycle worth 20k, Chinese pads for 50 for ALL calipers. Not only will you lose in braking, but also the disks themselves will be sawn off during the season.
