Check Engine light came on, couldn't go past 4.5k rpms

Turned bike off and on then it worked fine. I was doing a small pull, probably in 2nd gear at 9k rpms on my CBR 600RR when my check engine light came on and I was rapidly decelerating. I pulled off to the side of the road and just wanted to see if I could make it home so I checked to see how fast I could go and it wasn't going past 4.5k rpms. The first thing I tried was to turn it off and turn it back on again. After I did this the bike ran fine my entire way home. Any thoughts on what could've happened.

Sounds like your bike threw an error code and went into limp mode and cycling your ignition cleared it. Only way to know would to get a code reader.
