Part 11 - Yamaha YBR 125: PD&A of the Prototype

I started by completely dismantling the motorcycle into spare parts, taking into account the convenience of their subsequent maintenance and painting. This was not difficult and was done almost with my eyes closed, the only thing that happened for the first time was that the engine and wiring temporarily said goodbye to the frame. Along the way, I did not forget to replace the upper steering bearing cup with a roller bearing:

Next, a revision of all parts was carried out - factory and homemade, the places on the frame and pendulum that were quite badly affected by the battery acid were noted. I washed everything thoroughly, cleaned it, and prepared it for painting.

I painted according to the color scheme that I had been hatching in my head for a long time. The most time-consuming was painting the front fender and headlight rim - there were deep scratches and irregularities that had to be puttyed and brought to zero.

The fiberglass tank also had to be puttyed a little, despite the fairly even surface. For me personally, painting the tank turned out to be an invaluable experience - I got burned literally on everything: on the fact that the masking tape lifted the paint (it turned out that it was necessary to stick it on jeans to smooth out the lethality of the adhesive layer) and on stencils from oracle (with very corrosive glue) and on expired lacquer from a can ...

However, "the scrambler concept does not imply excessive gloss" - I decided so and even tried to "age" the inscriptions on the tank, filling everything with two layers of auto-lacquer:

Then I treated the cleaned metal of the frame and pendulum with zinc and painted them in black gloss:

The small things were painted in matt black:
