Yamaha’s net income increased by more than 60 percent, and it raked in just shy of $950M (¥101.6B).
The Japanese manufacturer continues to sell a huge number of small-displacement two-wheelers, as well as a pretty impressive number of its “Hyper-Naked” and “Sport Heritage” bikes. The company reported that a significant amount of its financial increase was associated with sales of high-end motorcycles. Such an impressive result was achieved also thanks to keeping manufacturing costs down, well-calculated manufacturing and production process.
A gold mine for Yamaha is the ASEAN region (southeast Asia), where sales increased by more than 10 percent over the year ($15.6B). As far as sales in the region, Yamaha has achieved the best performance in the last five years. The company utilized the substantial profits from the sales of its more expensive bikes to invest in cost reductions in emerging markets (Asia, India, and Brazil).
In 2018, Yamaha is not going to stop. It is expected that net sales will reach $16B, while net income is also expected to jump up 1.4 percent to nearly $1B.
In other sectors of the industry, Yamaha also experienced solid growth and sales. We are talking about the production of outboard motors and industrial robots.
