Bimota, a manufacturer of custom bikes and production motorcycles, officially announced a production version of the retro motorcycle Bimota KB4 at EICMA 2021 in Milan, Italy. This bike was first unveiled in the form of a concept by an Italian brand at the last EICMA show in 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. After about two years of development, it is finally open to the public. In addition to the new KB4, Bimota also announced a naked RC version of the motorcycle, called the Bimota KB4 RC, which will arrive in 2022.
Bimota also revealed a naked RC version of a motorcycle called the Bimota KB4RC, which will arrive in 2022.
The Bimota KB4 comes with a carbon fiber frame coupled to the 140bhp in-line 4-cylinder engine from the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX. The idea was to combine the relatively gentle manners of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX Inline 4 with an agile chassis and cover it with a unique retro bodywork. The styling is inspired by the Kawasaki-powered Bimota motorcycles of the late 1970s and 1980s, but the bulbous design shows some similarities to the YB10 motorcycles of the 1990s. The front fairing is also made of carbon fiber.
Kawasaki currently owns a 49.9% stake in the Bimota brand, so this bike is powered by the engine of a Japanese motorcycle manufacturer. But that’s not the only similarity. The new Bimota KB4 also comes with a range of electronics supplied by Kawasaki. This includes a cornering management system, cruise control, power mode, ABS, up and down quick shifters, and traction control. Bimota also offers the company’s signature chunky switchgear, in addition to the Kawasaki-derived color TFT dash with smartphone connectivity.

The motorcycle is also equipped with a billet aluminum swingarm, and the suspension role is handled by the Öhlins TTX36 rear shock and the Öhlins FGRT43NIX30 fork. Both can be adjusted manually. The braking role, on the other hand, is handled by the Brembo unit. Brembo units have a 320 mm disc on the front, a caliper on the front, and a 220 mm disc on the back. The bike also comes with a bulky end can that meets Euro 5 emission standards. The wheels are covered with a grippy Pirelli Super Corsa bar. The bike tilts the scale with a dry weight of 184 kg.
