Kawasaki is recalling W800 (EJ800C & EJ800D) motorcycles because their horn may stop functioning. In total, 1,660 motorcycles are affected by this recall.

At the core of the issue with the Kawasaki W800 is the fact that the harness securing the bike’s horn may break due to engine vibration, which can then cause the horn to become inoperable.

In examining the issue with the horn’s wiring harness, Kawasaki found that by modulating both the frequency and amplitude of the engine vibration, they were able to replicate the premature failure of the harness, but the failure conditions were thought to be very rare in the field.

Still, to remedy the issue, Kawasaki dealers will replace the horn, the horn mount bracket, and the horn harness, free of charge. Though, Kawasaki has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification.
