Located in Hillburn, New York, A&J Cycles is a custom motorcycles and parts shop that’s been riding, racing, wrenching on bikes, and churning out components for more than 20 years. And while A&J does all manner of work, the shop has a particular affinity for going fast and left, with a long history of flat track builds and a lengthy track record of competing in the Super Hooligan class. Interestingly, A&J Cycles’ latest one-off work isn’t a dirt oval racer, but rather a mini bike to be used in the pits at flat track events — and maybe an eventual entrant in a run-what-ya-brung class.
Based on a 2023 Honda CRF110 dirt bike, this pint-sized one-off build has been dubbed the BW110 — or “Big Wheel 110.” Taking inspiration from ‘80s era big-wheelers like the Honda TR200 and Yamaha TW200, the BW110 has been treated to a Big Wheel Kit from Arizona’s BVC Trikes. This meant the Honda donor was bestowed with a new set of triples and a new swing-arm in order to open up space for a bigger set of wheels and a markedly chunkier set of tires. The kit also came with a disc brake conversion and an offset sprocket, both of which also found their way onto the build.
As a nod to Honda’s fat-tired ATC three-wheelers, A&J has also outfitted the CRF110 with a handful of BVC-sourced components made for the trike, including an LED ATC250R rectangular headlight, an ATC front fender, and even a red vinyl wrap that pays homage to the “All Terrain Cycle.” Other upgrades came in the form of taller Pro Taper handlebars, stiffer suspension with heavier springs fore and aft, a BBR skid plate, a reinforced cradle, a Throttle Jockeys seat cover, a billet kickstand, BVC sprocket covers and foot controls, and a Yoshimura exhaust with a carbon fiber end-cap.
While A&J Cycles’ BW110 build isn’t currently for sale, the shop is currently accepting commissions for new builds, with more information available on the A&J website.
