(A) flight for the Bumblebee

Quick run for Bumblebee today. I gave in to its pleas for attention. Short, poignant, stop near home. In three days will be the Royal Australian Airforce’s (RAAF) 100 year anniversary. Lots of flyovers happening that day. It hasn’t been all fairy floss and ice cream for the RAAF over those years. This grove reminds us of that. Indeed, less than a km from where I live, and long since covered by the development of the suburb of Dickson, is the site of a 1926 disaster that claimed a young RAAF pilot and his observer.
