Velocette Venom 500 Cafè Racer

This is one beautiful 1955 Velocette Venom 500 Cafe Racer. When i found this pic I had to find out more about it. It’s by a californian company called Steffano Motorbikes. They do a lot modern Cafe racers and other one off customs. They have some more pics of their bikes here.

Engine: OHV 500cc single. Built to Venom specs with modern valves and seats. Velocette 4 speed transmission, rebuilt and improved. Primary toothed belt and dry clutch system using Kevlar friction plates. Lucas competition magneto ignition, fully restored. Mikuni smoothbore 38mm round slide, modified by Acme Rocket Bike and incorporating a Malossi screened velocity stack.
Exhaust: Acme built reverse cone polished aluminum megaphone system, with chromed MSS header pipe.
Bodywork: designed and built by Acme Rocket Bike, in hand-formed aluminum. The tail section and rear fender are a one piece fully integrated design. The front fender uses Manx style “butterfly” stays. The tank is an original Velocette “scrambler” or “endurance” style unit. The tank strap is hand stitched saddle leather. The painted finish is a epoxy based black with many coats of clear for deep luster.
Saddle: The integrated seat was designed and built by Acme Rocket Bike to work specifically with our bodywork. It uses an aluminum seat pan and is upholstered with high grade glove leather.
Front Suspension: New Ceriani GP forks held in special built Triple Trees with adjustable steering stops.
Front Brakes: dual disc brakes utilizing Grimeca calipers, Kosman cast iron rotors, and Magura master cylinder.
Rear Suspension: Works Performance gas charged shocks in original mounting configuration.
Rear Brakes: Disc system using a Brembo master cylinder, a Nissin caliper and a BrakeTech rotor. The reservoir, lever, and brackets are custom machined from aluminum.
Wheels: Custom built, using English “Talon” billet aluminum hubs, and shouldered Akront rims laced with stainless steel spokes.
Tires: Front , Metzler Sport 18-110. Rear, Metzler Sport 18-140
Lighting: The taillight is a Vincent Lightning unit with custom machined bezel mounting system and powerful LED bulbs. Headlight is a German “Eurocomponents” Billet aluminum 4” H4 halogen unit.
Electrics: Charging system is upgraded to an Alton AC generator at 12 volts and a NiCad battery pack. The wiring is fully fused and switchgear is easily accessed near the seat. The wiring harness replicates the original loom but is designed for ease of access and service.
Oil Tank: Modified Mooneyes “custom chopper oil tank” with specially machined saddle mounts and straps. The tank was heavily modified to clear the Velocette frame down tube, and for proper breathing and fitment to the Velocette oiling system. An inline check valve is used to prevent oil sumping into the motor.
Hardware: high quality stainless steel nuts, bolts, washers, clamps and other fittings. Most of the hardware is polished to a show finish.
