Having problem seeing your ignition or oil dash light?
Hi Everyone
Here is a simple fix that could be done in your garage to finally be able to see your dash light clearly during sunshine.
Here it is….I had problem seeing my small lights during daytime due to the reflect of the sun on my dash ,when I was finally bored enough of not seeing either my generator light ( I run a Poweraythor 65A…an alternator conversion I am actually doing) and my oil engine light( I have a oil pressure gauge mount on the crankcase …but also like to see my oil light in the dash)….so I decide to take care of that problem by making a wall between those three bulbs I have in my 67 generator Shovel dash.
Here is the picture taken from under the dash cover.
You can see the three socket( bulb for neutral is still in his socket),I already took the two others so I can take care of the parts that I am going to Loctite in place,so each light would glow individually and would not interfere between them,in the picture you can see that I already sand the portion where I would Loctite those mounting walls.
To do the modification, I simply took a rounded piece of white teflon, machine the inside (you can also drill it) and cut it in two equal parts,I also blast the two parts and spray them with black paint,to have them really dark.
Some are going to ask,why teflon instead of metal or other material???
Reason is… I don’t want anything interfering with electricity ,teflon is a non conductive material, why take some chances.
You can see that the bottom parts was rub again a sand paper and prime with 7649 Loctite primer, ready to be Loctite in place.
(I decide to use green Loctite instead of instant glue,to have it fix for long)
You can still see the green Loctite around the bottom of those parts, those are not Loctite extremely solid but still solid enough and would stay there with no problems.
Here is the dash mount back and switch turn at first click, you can see all three lights are very bright ,and this time I would see light even if the sun is shinning bright.
Hope that help those of you who have the same problem I had.
