I bought a 1970 Triumph tr25w!

Today my dad and I went to look at a 1970 Triumph tr25w. The motorcycle didn't come with a couple of its parts including the carburetor and the gas tank. There were only 5,775 miles on it since it was new. I asked many questions and I decided that it was worth paying for it. My father covered the $750 price of the bike. I asked Ian if he could donate a tail light that fit the bike and he gladly gave me one. We loaded it into our Astro van and drove it home. When we got home we checked it for compression and spark and it had both. This means that it is almost running and if it had fuel it could run. This does not mean however that it is street ready; it is missing the carburetor and many other parts and would not be safe to drive. After we were done checking the compression and spark, we cleaned up some of the chrome parts (head light, rear handle, handle bars, etc.) with steel wool. We will clean them more thoroughly later when the bike is disassembled. My dad had a spare gas tank from his Triumph Bonneville and it fit perfectly. Now that I don't have to purchase a gas tank, it saves a lot of money. Today we didn't get too much done but it is only the beginning of this project. I can’t wait to see what surprises this motorcycle has in store.
