Crank Case Updates and More Questions!
Some questions.....
The main crank bearing came out (as it should) with the crank, but needs to be replaced. I've been advised to keep it in but the timing side bearing is likewise shot and I would rather have all new parts at this point. I actually found several burnt sunflower seeds in the crank filter so gawd only knows where it's been.... Before anyone yells at me yes I have protected the rods and they are being cossetted in layers of bubble wrap as we speak. Sheesh!
I tried to get the bearing off the crankshaft but it fell apart and I'm left with the inner race stuck on the crank - how do I get this off??
The smaller of these two holes houses the layshaft but can someone please point out how this is ended? I believe there is a needle bearing to go in there but is this shaped like a cup?? I can't see anything like that on the parts manual...
Finally - for now the big end shells had the following on them...
Looking this up is somewhat confusing - LF Harris has this as a standard size other places have this as -030 undersize. I've no reason to replace the shells apart from the 'while I'm down here' principle and so I'll get another set whilst I'm at it but is this standard or -030??
Cases are off to be vapour blasted and cleaned up - I also need to discuss replacing the timing side bearing as this is graunchy and I swear I can see sunflower seeds in there too!
Progress being made but of the one step forward two steps back variety.
Cheers
