Japanese motorcycle maker patented the name “Tracer GT”. I believe, we know, who’ll get it.
Saying Tracer, we mean a number of markets, including a European one. In the Old World the company has already produced the Tracer 700 and 900, touring spec versions of the MT-07 and MT-09. But you can hardly find them in pairs. In the USA nobody knows about the MT-07 version, while the MT-09 is widely spread among local riders under the name “FJ-09”, such as Australia and South Africa, the top motorcycle is named as the MT-09 Tracer. It’s rather simple, but its roots are recognizable at once.
In the nearest future it’s also planned to produce another touring version – Tracer GT. We just have to wonder, what this beast is similar to. Supposedly, Yamaha makers will transform a comfortable naked MT-10, a counterpart of a YZF-R1sport bike, into a long-range crossover. You would ask, what about the MT-10 Tourer Edition? So, it was made in a hurry and with small losses – it was modified with a screen, hand guards and soft panniers.
A GT version could go further, and in addition to external innovations, such as advanced aerodynamic feathering, will be designed for distance work and comfort. It could be the Yamaha to take on the likes of BMW’s S1000XR, a crossover with a de-forced SRR engine.
