It’s a well known fact, that Ferrari doesn’t produce motorcycles, - the legendary Italians are known all over the world by their supercars. So how did this nice one appear?
Top Gear explains, that the motorcycle was built in 1995 by David Kay – a bike-maker of David Kay Engineering in its prosperous time, when they produced top things one by one. David Kay had written to Ferrari and asked if he could create a motorcycle as a tribute to the late Enzo. After receiving a letter, in which P.Ferrari gave him the green light, David continued his project. After long four years his hard work was complete.
The bike is powered by 900cc engine, producing 105 hp at 8800 rpm. It means, that the only thing, that a potential customer should know, is that the bike is really fast. Its estimated top speed is 164 mph.
For the past 17 years the motorcycle has been owned by a British collector and, you won’t believe, it was kept in a special room at owner’s home, as he considered this Ferrari motorbike to be a piece of art.
There were a few unsuccessful tries to sell it, but the price tag was too high.
In a Bonham's auction it was sold for £85,000, although the event organizers expected to get minimum £100,000. They believed it was the real price for this unique motorcycle.
