It happened during the presentation evening of the BMW X5 (also called The Boss) organized by the BMW Pelras. Born in 2012 and loved by two-wheeled enthusiasts, this premium brand deal unveiled a unique creature the BMW R nineT Bi-Turbo "Interceptor". In short, it’s the only motorcycle equipped with two turbos in the world.
Very popular in the mid-80s in the automotive industry, the use of turbo on a motorcycle, however, remains somewhat anecdotal.Japanese manufacturers have tried using turbos on the Kawasaki ZX 750, which had reached 112hp, but the project didn’t succeed. Nowadays, with the help of technology, Kawasaki produces the H2R,for those who are not afraid of anything, especially not to break their piggy bank. But it’s not about this BMW R nineT Bi-Turbo.
At first glance, fans will have recognized the tribute to Joe Bar Team and the famous BMW R90S,motorcycle of Gégé the gendarme better known as the "Black Greyhound". In 2013 the Spanish company “Radical Ducati” released ‘Interceptor,’ a BMW R80 ST built in conjunction with the French BMW specialist Max Boxer.Interceptor was one of the most heavily modified and visually arresting bikes from the Radical Ducati stable. But the comparison stops there.Technically, the BMW Moto Ride team has outperformed the competitors.
The addition of two turbos straight from the world of jet ski creates a delicious symmetry on the vehicle. It displays 140hp of performance level before adjustments. This rate is expected to change as a result of these adjustments,notably thanks to the test at the Circuit d’Albi. Saddle, exhaust, covers, custom parts are exceptional. An excellent mix of old and advanced technologies, it is distinguished from a cafe racer by an impression of absolute control and a visual balance.
By its technicality and its exclusive character, this custom certainly doesn’t suit everyone, but BMW Moto Ride with its slogan “Shared Pleasure” offers different departments within their address road Labège.
