Dany Bahar is a bit of a legend in the world of motorsport. After helping to launch the Red Bull F1 team, a tenure at Ferrari, and several years serving as the CEO of the Lotus Group, Bahar would eventually go on to found ARES Design in 2014, initially operating as a luxury coachbuilder before later going on to produce its own supercar models like the Lalique Spyder, S1 PROJECT, and the Panther ProgettoUno. And while ARES Design is undeniably best known for its custom work with exotic cars, the Modena-based shop has more recently branched out into the creation of bespoke BMW motorcycle builds, one of which is the stunning R nineT-based “Bullet.”
Putting a modern spin on the café racer genre while also taking influence from vintage Grand Prix bikes, the ARES Bullet hugely transforms the R9T, seeing the donor receive a full suite of custom carbon fiber bodywork that includes a waspish single-passenger tail, a small belly-pan, and a modern knee-dented tank that flows into a pointed half-fairing with a circular multi-function LED headlight — all of which are completely designed and fabricated in-house by ARES. The Bullet has also been treated to several significant performance upgrades, including top-shelf spoked Kineo wheels, a fully-adjustable Matris rear suspension setup mated to a custom swing-arm design, Brembo calipers, and a custom set of rear-sets and clip-on handlebars that together make for a markedly more aggressive riding position.
The 1,170cc Boxer twin at the heart of the build has also been bestowed with an airbox delete, a set of custom pod filters, and a bespoke ceramic-coated two-into-one exhaust system. The same in-house upholstery team that crafts the interiors of ARES’ supercars has also been called on to whip up the handmade handlebar grips, tank strap, and saddle, which all sport contrasting stitching that matches the build’s paint. Other noteworthy additions to the BMW include period-style switchgear, an integrated LED taillight, bespoke ARES Design-branded instrumentation, custom valve covers, and a fully-machined Monza-style tank cap.
Limited to only 25 units worldwide, the ARES Design BMW R nineT Bullet is available now on a built-to-order basis, with customers being given an extensive list of customizable options so no two bikes are exactly alike.
