Shut up and take my money!

After a year on the Honda CB125F, as I think I've gained enough experience to understand what this bike is little too small for me, and I want something more.

And I began to choose. In my head I had the following picture:
The size and power
I live and work in London, and a large part of my road is 20 mph. 90% of the time I drive to work and back. So for me it was very important that the bike is well behaved on a slow drive in heavy traffic.

The motorcycle must be calm and not nervous. Anyway, the style of riding is dictated by the bike. The Honda CB650F was not just to keep yourself in a high-speed framework. At the same time the BMW F800GT is very calm.

Also very important, the height and size of the bike, because I constantly have to squeeze it in between other bikes in the Parking lot. On a Yamaha 700 Tracer was almost impossible .

Price
As you all noticed, the bike is expensive. Especially when the price is the risk of losing the bike.

Over the past year, we have frequent theft of motorcycles and other offences associated with motorcycles which is reflected in the insurance.
Mandatory minimum insurance (third party only) in my area costs from £600 per year. Leave expensive motorcycle without insurance as something scary.
Therefore, as a minimum, you need to insure against theft (third party fire and theft). Such insurance for me is £1k per year.

So buy the bike expensive not like. My budget is £2 — 6k on a motorcycle. If £2 — it is possible to insure, easier to buy the same.

New or used..
Accordingly the question arose, do I need a new bike for a lot of money or b.. significantly cheaper, depending on the year.

Everything except my dealer tried to convince me not to buy a new bike, mainly in terms of the following reasons:

New motorcycle falls in value immediately after purchase, therefore I will not be able to sell profitably.
I'll drop/break/break
It is stolen (see above)

Bike should look cool Infuriates me terribly, the design of the front which now make modern motorcycles such as the Honda cb650f, Yamaha mt-07, Kawasaki z650, BMW G 310 R.

Also I don't like the amount of cheap plastic that shoves into motorcycles. Sit on a new bike for £7k, and I understand that it feels cheap. The feeling I had with the KTM 690 DUKE.

In my understanding the motorcycle was supposed to be the most simple, stylish, tasteful. Without colorful, flashy design elements, as MV Agusta Brutale 800.

Classic motorcycles I do not like, such as kawasaki w800.

I like something in between, classic round headlight in a modern frame. For example I really like the look of the Yamaha XSR700.

Summary
In the end, I tested many motorcycles from dealers and at various exhibitions.

The above Yamaha XSR700 I did not like to touch. On the outside it looks certainly cool, but to sit at it was not £6,839 nice.

But the new Honda CMX500 Rebel I liked it. In person was "that feeling", immediately wanted to buy.

But I decided to wait, and to think about everything thoroughly.

The more I thought, the more I wanted to buy it:

Looks sick!
The bike is relatively inexpensive, £5600 with the nearest competitor at ~£7.
Very quiet motor, 20-30 mph is a pleasure.
There is a margin of power, more than I need right now.
Minimalism. Not even a gear indicator and tachometer. Only speed and time :)
Great sound with the stock exhaust.
Narrow frame, and low direct fit. Easy to Park and to filter traffic.
All kinds of funky elements such as indicators and rear stop square are easily removed and replaced.
