The history of the building of a cafe racer. The final stage of the assembly.
If you ask yourself what is the most pleasant stage in the construction of a custom, then after the first start of the engine, I would undoubtedly name the final assembly stage.
Everything has already been cut, welded, molded, dyed, sewn, etc., carefully laid in a still life.
You have to do only one thing - calmly, thoughtfully and in a measured manner, put everything in its place, starting from the engine and ending with the smallest nut. Exactly at this stage it is the birth of a new motorcycle (new - despite the fact that he is already 33 years old). After all, it’s possible to see and understand, what happened as a result, only by putting everything together.
I will not describe the whole process in detail, but rather suggest a chronology in pictures, with my comments at the bottom of each photo.
1. It took me an hour, a bunch of nerves and forces of two adult men to get the engine from the frame. On the contrary, I was able to implement it in an updated frame alone in 30 minutes, without losses. The motor weighing 130 kg was laid on its side, and a frame was strung on the top of it.
2. Cardan - a nice thing, reliable and unpretentious, especially among the Japanese. In contrast to the "Dnieper", it is also hidden in a pendulum...
3. A fork with a wheel, as close to the bottom traverse as possible, because otherwise there will a trouble with proportions.
Carburettors and air filter were put to their usual place.
4. The headlamp – it would be perfect to put it a little lower.
5. The bike firmly stands on the ground with two wheels, spring-loaded with pneumatic shock-absorbers. Well, the clip-ons are instead of the handlebar.
6. A tank (in 22 liters) coupled with the engine (998 cc).
7. A seat - - hide the failure of the frame at the back of the tank. The tail is the sting of Bombardier's Beetle.
8. Side covers - a link between the tank and the tail.
9. A pair of bunches of electric wires.
10. And finally the photo with silencers, in all its glory with a run of 1500 km already after the assembly.
