On the lakes of Europe in July 2017. Part 4
Day 11, Thuesday
Now my way lays to Slovenia, to Bled, Lake Bled, a distance of 460 km.
It was a standard scheme: firstly, my navigator made fun of me, for example, suggested to turn where there were no intersections with the other road, then made a decent detour to the Milan-Verona-Venice-Trieste highway in complex ways and go to Slovenia through Austria, although the mentioned highway directly leds to Slovenia. Nevertheless, by 3 p.m. I got to the next hotel in Bled. And in an hour I was already in the lake Bled.
Also a nice lake, the water is clean, the banks are not well maintained, the remains of some wooden and concrete structures are visible in the water, but you can find a place to swim.
I burned before, so that swimming in the cool water was especially nice. The town itself is very neat, similar to German or Austrian.
Restaurant dishes and products here are cheaper than in Italy or France.
It's getting dark.
Day 12, Wednesday, from Slovenia to Hungary/
In the morning I could not resist and went to the lake for a swim. The water is good, and even in the morning it's nice to swim.
I left at 10 a.m. Riding to the lake Balaton was fun and easy - not loaded Slovenian highway, good weather, drive and enjoy life! In the village Vonyarcvashegy I could find the hotel at once. Then there was a problem with the mistress. She did not accept the cards, did not take the euros, and I did not have forints. I had to look for an exchanger, she also billed me 5 euros more than Booking promised, and as a result - a negative comment. My room was pretty big, but there were no towels, and this was the first time I had such situation. There were no Wifi and even breakfast. The most uncomfortable hotel.
Finally at 4:30 p.m. I went to the beach, it was opposite to the hotel, the entrance was paid (3 euros), but I was allowed, maybe because of later time, maybe because of age, or maybe because of insolence. The beach was large, grass with separate trees plus a lot of people and children. the water was muddy and shallow, you will go for 50 meters, and all just above the knees. In the water there are still too much people. And I immediately remembered with sadness Bled or Garda.
I didn't take photos, as didn't take a camera or mobile phone to the beach. To get an idea of this beach you can look at the pictures from Como, the only thing - there are too much people and a muddy water. Then I asked for a goulash in the restaurant, gave me soup with potatoes and meat. You can eat, but nothing special. Well at least cheap, goulash with beer - 6 euros.
In general, I'm not delighted with Lake Balaton, of course, I had to come here, and it is along the way, but there are lakes much better. And I was planning firstly to stay here, but thank God, changed my mind.
Day 13, Thursday. Just a comfortable riding.
I left early, at about 9 a.m. Then I drove through good Hungarian highways and by 3 p.m., having traveled 600 km, I reached the hotel in Poprad. There was nothing special for me. The hotel was good (there were towels), but they didn't accept cards and Wifi didn't work. I went to the center, walked, a simple, neat Slovak town.
Day 14
It's harder to ride in Poland, but for 8 hours I still hoped to do 600 km.
In the morning everything was fine, it was quite warm with a little cloudiness, I did not have to go by highways, in Slovakia before Poland, the navigator took me through small villages with bad asphalt, then in Poland the road became better.
In general, I can say the trip was a success: I rode, swam and visited places that are definitely worth visiting...
If we compare lakes, then the best thing was probably on Garda.
Bled is in second place, with a very small gap.
Third place for Como.
The lake I liked less than others was Balaton, although it is possible that there are good places on it.
I think that the route I chose was interesting, and mostly I was lucky with the weather. Only three days were rainy and one with heavy rain - it's really good)
