I have decided to do my 18600mile/30000 Kms service on my 1290 Super Adventure
I have been umming and erring on whether I should do this or not. The only KTM dealer who I trust to do this just quoted me between £800-£1000 (about 950-1150 euros) so I have decided to take the matter into my own hands.
I dug into the service guide that I have on my bike and other than the connecting the DealerNet services up and being able to do a fuel pressure test, I'm all good to go.
There are several 'special' tools I need but other than some Locktite sealant for the rocker covers, the tools are fairly generic. The bike is a 2018 bike (so no warranty) and I'm not interested in a year's paltry AA breakdown cover. I'm keeping my bike, so I'm also not interested in a full dealer service.
Things I need:
1) Oil Service Kit (inc oil)
2) 4 spark plugs
3) A new SAS filter
4) A K&N air filter renewal/cleaning kit
Special Tools:
Feeler Gauges
Locktite 5910 sealant
Spring Band Clamp Pliers
KTM Spark Plug Wrench with Link (I think you also need the other sparkplug removal tool as there are two different sparkplugs per cylinder)
Crank locking tool (to check timing and also to set the valve clearance)
The Service Guide is super-comprehensive so I can follow instructions easily. I have also printed out the guides so I don't have to refer to the DVD-ROM the service guide is on.
