Yamaha Motors USA has issued a recall for the 2021 Tracer 9 GT.

Recall alert: Yamaha Tracer 9 GT called back for faulty throttle grip

Why?

The said safety recall by Yamaha concerns a faulty throttle grip that could get damaged if the grip is used to pull up the Tracer 9 GT after lying on its side.

The breakage could lead to a restricted throttle movement, thus affecting the rider’s input and subsequently increasing the risk of a crash by manifold.

How many Yamaha Tracer 9 GT bikes will be recalled?

Yamaha USA will recall close to 453 units of the affected Tracer 9 GT, all manufactured between February 15, 2021 - July 8, 2021.

Any warning/advice?

Yamaha Motors USA has issued a possible warning for the owners of the affected units saying that they might notice a potential slow return to ideal when the throttle is released and even experience an unexpected resistance when applying throttle.

Further, the company has advised the riders to find a different mode of transportation until their bike undergoes servicing.
