Final Engine Assembly

Time to button up the engine for insatll into the waiting frame. Just the clutch and primary cover left to do.

Installed new clutch plates and pressure plate. The clutch was really the only thing wrong with the bike when I put it away in '79 or so.

I put on the kickstart lever and hooked up a clutch cable to a lever on the handlebars so I could operate the clutch during adjustment. The tape on the stator is so I could sight along the edge of the rotating pressure plate to tell when it was running true and not wobbling. Adjusting the pressure plate nuts eventually gets it running straight.

The primary case had been polished once before, but that was a long time ago. An afternoon of elbow grease got it looking better.

Time to close 'er up. I try to make sure internal threads are clean and in good shape before installing a cover. I clean them, chase them if necessary, and test the final hardware iin them.

Ready to go.
