Retrofit a Stock Autoblipper on a 2016 BMW S1000R
Just finished project with the guys on a 2016 BMW S1000R! The bike originally didn't come with an autoblipper, so we decided to upgrade it for full clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
Instead of messing around with those terrible piggyback harnesses, we got our hands on a stock BMW sensor and hardwired it directly to the ECU. After that, we spent some time figuring out the programming and calibration to get it running smoothly. It definitely wasn't a straightforward job, but we wanted to do it the right way.
The craziest part was getting it all to fit. We somehow managed to squeeze the shift rod and sensor right into the original frame tunnel to keep that clean, factory look. It is super tight in there—we literally only had about 5mm of adjustment to play with!
Honestly, the headache was totally worth it. Doing it this way saved us from having to drop extra cash on a vertically mounted gear lever assembly. Time for a well-earned beer!
