Just ahead of EICMA, Suzuki has taken the wraps off a limited-edition Hayabusa which celebrates the centenary of the Bol d'Or - one of the most prestigious 24-hour endurance races in the world. Dubbed the Hayabusa Bol d’Or edition, it also marks the company’s 18-win dominance at the Bol d'Or. This makes it the most successful manufacturer in this race, ahead of 17-time-winner Honda.
Just like most special editions, the key talking point of the Suzuki Hayabusa Bol D’Or is its bespoke livery. It features a gloss black base coat accentuated by golden inserts below the headlight, inside the fairings, and outback. Similarly, the Suzuki badges are gold too, and so is the pinstripe of the alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the Hayabusa logo on the side has a Bol D’Or graphic to mark the special edition, with an identical insignia just above the tail lamp. From a distance, this livery might look like a derivative of the Hayabusa’s Glass Sparkle Black & Candy Burnt Gold color option, but the golden inserts will surely make you feel like you’re on the top step of the podium.
Apart from this, the Bol d'Or edition also flaunts an Akrapovic slip-on exhaust to boost performance. This exhaust promises to add 1.6 horsepower while shaving almost nine pounds off the Hayabusa’s 582-pound curb weight. Besides this, the Hayabusa Bol d’Or also has carbon fiber inserts here and there to further bring down the weight.
Elsewhere, the Hayabusa Bol d'Or remains just like the stock ‘Busa. It continues to employ a 1,341cc, inline-four engine mated to a quickshifter-equipped six-speed gearbox. Similarly, there are no changes to either the mechanicals (17-inch wheels, upside-down forks, monoshock, and Brembo Stylema brakes) or the electronics (traction control, wheelie control, launch control, and cornering ABS).
The Suzuki Hayabusa Bol d’Or is an effort by Suzuki’s France division and only 100 units will be made available to mark the centenary. Each example will cost 27,499 Euros (~$27,300) which is $8,500 more than the 2023 Hayabusa’s MSRP. If the extra moolah isn’t a worry for you, then you will still have to figure out how you’ll ship this to America. And if it’s still no problem, we suggest you head to Suzuki-moto.com ASAP and book your special ‘Busa before it flies off the shelves.
